NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two teen boys who were on the run after being reported missing last week on South Andros have been found hiding in an Airbnb.

Authorities confirmed to Eyewitness News that the teens are suspects in a string of armed robberies that have plagued the community.

Despite a missing persons report and a MARCO's Alert being issued, the boys had been spotted at various locations but managed to elude police.

Their escape came to an end on Sunday, November 24, 2024, around 6:45 PM, when police, acting on a tip with the help of community members, searched the Johnson's Bay settlement. The team located a beige-trimmed white Airbnb, where the teens were found in the first unit.

The boys were arrested and cautioned on charges of housebreaking, stealing, and receiving. They were then transported to the Kemp's Bay Police Station for further investigations.

Authorities have not released additional details at this time as investigations are ongoing.

Daxon makes recommendation for lethal injections if Privy Council does not approve of hanging

Daxon makes recommendation for lethal injections if Privy Council does not approve of hanging

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Attorney and political activist Maria Daxon has called on the government to consider implementing lethal injections as an alternative form of capital punishment if the Privy Council does not rule in favor of hanging for heinous crimes.

The ongoing debate around capital punishment was reignited following the recent gruesome death of 12-year-old Adriel Moxey, whose body was discovered in bushes near her home earlier this week. Daxon's latest plea comes in the wake of yet another tragedy: the reported rape and death of 72-year-old Vernencha Butler in her home on Saturday morning.

Prime Minister Philip Davis, when previously questioned about capital punishment, stated that while hanging is still within the law, no recent cases have warranted such a sentence. He emphasized that his government remains focused on crime prevention.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe echoed Davis's sentiments, describing hanging as a "route to shift blame." However, Opposition Leader Michael Pintard has voiced support for the measure, arguing that it could serve as a deterrent to future violent crimes. Senate President Lashell Adderley also expressed frustration with taxpayers bearing the burden of supporting convicted criminals in prison, advocating for stricter penalties for those who commit egregious acts.

The debate over capital punishment continues to stir national discourse, as citizens and leaders grapple with how best to address violent crime.

Eden Well, led by Brianna Eccleston, opened its doors in March 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering COVID-19 testing. However, since the initial launch, the facility has progressed from a COVID-19 testing center to a fully operational laboratory that provides a wide range of lab testing services.

The Dialysis Unit operates Monday through Saturday and patients visit three times per week for treatments.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Assistant Commissioner of Police Zhivargo Dames insisted on Thursday afternoon that he was not made aware of any calls or reports that were allegedly handed down to local authorities regarding sounds of a young girl screaming in bushes near the scene where 12 year old Adriel Moxey was found dead on Wednesday November 20th.

Dames told media that police were made aware while at the scene of the tragic discovery that a man heard screams, but asserted that there was know knowledge of this information prior to the commencement of their preliminary investigation.

However, Senior Pastor at Restoration Kingdom Ministries Cleveland Wells told Eyewitness News on Wednesday night that he provided a tip to officers at the Carmichael Road Police Station on Tuesday morning.
