BIOGRAPHY - ALLEN PRATT, Bahamian Artist and Former Executive Pastry Chef

Born in 1971 in New Providence, Bahamas, Allen Pratt has seamlessly transitioned from a celebrated career as an award-wining Executive Pastry Chef into the realm of fine arts. Renowned for his intricate fruit and ice carvings, Allen’s mastery of detail and craftsmanship in the culinary world has naturally evolved into his new passion – creating stunning, photo-realistic seascapes and landscapes that capture the essence of the Bahamian islands.

Today, Allen is a professional artist who specializes in oil painting, focusing on the pristine beauty of The Bahamas. His works are known for their meticulous attention to detail, a skill honed from years of creating delicate and precise pastry art. Each brushstroke reflects his deep love and appreciation for the islands’ turquoise waters, lush flora and unique architecture, translating these elements into one-of-a-kind original paintings.

While the legal spelling of his name is ‘Allen’ his paintings are signed ‘Allan’, this is mainly due in part to growing up with documents in both names.

Allen is committed to preserving the authenticity and individuality of his art, creating only original pieces. He believes that making prints or duplicates would diminish the value of the work, as no two pieces can truly capture the spirit of the Bahamian landscape in the same way. Allen ensures that each piece of art is accompanied by its own Certificate of Authenticity.

Allen’s dedication to excellence and his ability to bring the natural beauty of The Bahamas to life on canvas have made his artwork highly sought after by collectors. His pieces are held in private collections both locally in The Bahamas and internationally, where they continue to evoke a sense of awe and connection to the islands. Allen Pratt’s work stands as a testament to the power of precision and passion, both in the kitchen and on the canvas, leaving an indelible mark on all who encounter his art.

CG Atlantic Honors over 50 Years of Leadership with Portraits of Prime Ministers

Thu, Jul 4th 2024, 03:00 PM

In a display of national pride, CG Atlantic recently unveiled its "50 Years of Leadership" portrait series, commemorating The Bahamas' 50th Independence anniversary. The project, which was first introduced earlier this year, pays homage to the nation’s leadership through the artistry of H.E. Jamaal Rolle, capturing the essence of The Bahamas’ Prime Ministers. The portrait series, now prominently displayed along Collins Avenue, aims to inspire future generations with the stories of leaders who have shaped The Bahamas.

The unveiling ceremony, hosted at CG Atlantic's Collins Avenue headquarters, was attended by former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, First Lady Ann Marie Davis, and other notable community leaders.

The event showcased the final portraits in the series that included Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling, the Rt. Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham, the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis, and the Hon. Philip E. Davis honouring the enduring legacy of Bahamian Leadership.

During remarks, Chief Operating Officer of Coralisle Pension Services Ltd, Larry Gibson, reflected on the significance of the portraits calling the project a fitting tribute to the nation’s five Prime Ministers. "These works of art do more than depict our leaders,” he explained. “They encapsulate their achievements, character, and the warmth of their spirit."

Those sentiments were later echoed by CG Atlantic’s Executive Vice President & General Manager Annastasia Francis, who emphasized the lasting impact of this initiative. "In celebration of our 50th Independence anniversary, we wanted to give a gift to the nation that is both meaningful and lasting.

We hope this portrait series serves as a reminder to Bahamian children of the impact one individual can have on history. We also envision this site as a landmark for visitors. May it inspire future generations to embrace leadership with courage, humility, and a steadfast commitment to the common good."

This project is just one of the many ways CG Atlantic has been able to showcase its commitment to Bahamian excellence and growth. The company also recently launched its "Adopt a Verge" program, in partnership with the Public Parks and Beaches Authority. The company has beautified the area, creating an artistic bridge between Bay Street and the Over-The-Hill community. Alongside initiatives like sponsoring The Bahamas Student of the Year Foundation, company officials are committed to promoting good corporate citizenship. They encourage Bahamians to reflect on ways to showcase Bahamian excellence and strive to create an even greater legacy of leadership for the future.
